Roscrea Credit Union Accredited With “Phenomenal Commitment” To The Local Community
A rigorous audit of Roscrea Credit Union’s policies, procedures and strategic plan was conducted on Tuesday last by Excellence Ireland the authority responsible for issuing the Q-Mark Award in Ireland.
Once again the Credit Union rose to the challenge and had all the criteria in place to help ensure that they stay accredited to the Q-Marks governing body.
Considering that the Credit Union was nominated by Excellence Ireland as one of the best companies in the Irish Financial Sector last November, the management and staff of Roscrea Credit Union could have been forgiven for taking their foot of the pedal and presuming that the audit on Tuesday last would be a forgone conclusion. This however was not the case and the auditor was left in no doubt as to the strength of the Credit Union’s policies and procedures and wonderful commitment to the local community. Two items that received high praise from the Excellence Ireland auditor was the Credit Union’s involvement with the “Roscrea People Awards” which the auditor described as a “wonderful community iniaitive” and one that she would like to see implemented in her own home town. Roscrea Credit Union’s sponsorship package of €700.000.00 to help bring the Roscrea Swimming Pool Project to fruition was described as “a phenomenal commitment to the local community” and the Auditor was delighted to hear about various social finance packages that the Credit Union has granted in recent times to help the development of clubs and voluntary organisations in both the local and wider community.
Roscrea Credit Union are optimistic that by the end of this year the Country will once again begin to show signs of sustained economic growth. By operating through the best practise guidelines issued by Excellence Ireland, the Credit Union will continue to strengthen its capital and maintain its record of exceptional service to members while endeavouring to adhere to its motto “The Powerhouse For Community Development”. As a result of this prudency which falls in line with good international practice, Roscrea Credit Union are positioning themselves to be in a very strong position so that they can maximise the opportunities that the economic recovery will bring.
Business closures, job losses and reduced working hours for many in Roscrea and its environs has affected many members and their financial situations. Roscrea Credit Union is working closely with members to assist them where possible with budgeting and financial advice. Roscrea Credit Union encourages members who find themselves in difficulties to call to the Credit Union and discuss their situation. Leaving financial difficulties on the long finger does not help and will only exacerbate problems.
Roscrea Credit Union recognises and appreciates the loyalty and support which has always existed between its members and the Credit Union. Every year the Credit Union receives almost maximum points in it’s Q-Mark Audit for its community support and involvement. In the last few months alone we have sponsored numerous events in the town including the very successful “Roscrea’s Got Talent”. The Credit Union has contributed generously to the construction of the new playground in Shinrone and your local Credit Union looks forward to continuing it’s main sponsorship of Ballaghmore GAA Club and Roscrea GAA Club not to mention it’s regular contributions on an almost annual basis to numerous clubs and voluntary organisation events that are staged locally.
The Board with the continued support of its members, management and staff is committed to continuing to provide Roscrea Credit Union members with excellent service and loans at competitive and fair rates. The Credit Union look’s forward to hopefully getting nominated by Excellence Ireland later this year to once again compete against the Country’s leading financial institutions and become the first Credit Union to win the “Best Financial Institution” award which would be very fitting as Roscrea Credit Union was once of the first every companies across all sectors to revive the revised but extremely challenging Q-Mark award.
